Job Description

Position Purpose/Summary

Responsible for providing adult students with appropriate instruction to develop their skills in literacy, language, math and areas related to their own goals. Work is performed under the supervision of the Adult Literacy Manager. No supervision is exercised over other employees.

Essential Functions

  • Reviews lesson plans and materials.
  • Implements plans with groups of adult learners. Teaches subjects including reading, phonics, vocabulary, writing, math, current events, and history.
  • Takes attendance and provides written feedback to teacher.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to teach to a variety of knowledge and skill levels.
  • Ability to follow teacher’s written lesson plans and interact well with students.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • Experience teaching adult basic reading, writing, and mathematics. Computer skills also required.

Expected Salary

$26.96 per hour
