Position Summary:
- The Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine is dedicated to the diagnosis and understanding of human diseases through biomedical and clinical research. Using the latest technologies, our pathologists help advance medicine by finding better ways of diagnosing, managing and treating diseases.
- Reviews and signs off patients’ test results. – Oversees bench QCs, reagent QCs, equipment PMs / calibrations.
- Provides day to day supervision for assigned staff, assists Director in the selection, training, and development of team members.
- Reviews and approve staffs’ vacation, sick time, and timecards.
- Performs employees’ performance evaluations and competencies.
- Reviews and approves invoices, purchases, and service contract renewals.
- Reviews and submits proficiency testing results.
- Meets with vendors and providers for various discussions and projects.
- Teaches CLS students. – Writes and manages SOPs records.
- Provides in-services for providers, residents, and fellows.
- Works with IS, EPIC, and Histotrac teams for various projects such as building new tests, installing new utilities, or validating new interface.
- Works with vendors to adopt new methodologies, new analyzers, and new reagents.
- Works with UNET and One Legacy to provide/retrieve patients’ information.
- Works with CMS for test rate approvals.
- Prepares monthly HLA charge spreadsheets.
- Prepares monthly (pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical), quarterly, and annually QA data for director review .
- Prepares data and hosts monthly lab meetings.
- Serves as ASHI / CAP / State Department administrative.
- Composes data and arranges for cost report’s review and approval.
- Prepares data and completes applications for re-accreditation, inspections, audits, ASHI renewal, State renewal, and CLIA renewal.
- Other duties: hiring /discipline employees, troubleshooting sample / workflow issues, providing learning / growing opportunities for staffs, making sure staffs fulfill their job’s responsibilities, making sure staffs’ trainings and credentials are current, working with leaders to solve common problems, to improve the processes, and to assist other departments.

The expected pay range for this recruitment is $123,500.00 – $241,900.00 (Annual Salary). The Full Salary Range for the salary grade this position is assigned to is $123,500.00 – $241,900.00 (Annual Salary).

Required:
- A minimum 5-year HLA laboratory experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in science.
- Current CA CLS License.
- Current CHT certification
- Clinical Laboratory Scientist, current CA CLS License.
- Must be willing to carry the pager.
- Must be able to work variable shifts and overtime as required.
- Knowledge of immunology and genetics of HLA system.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System.
- Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload.
- Must be flexible with urgent requests.
- Must be willing to testify in court regarding testing activities if subpoenaed.
- Must possess the computer skills: word and excel.
- Must possess the communication and customer service skills, both verbal and written.
