- High school education or equivalent required
- Valid Arizona driver’s license
- Minimum five years carpenter experience
- Working knowledge of tools, materials, methods and safe working practices of the carpenter trade
- Ability to read and work from blueprints and to layout work assignment
- Ability to care for equipment and tools
- Computer proficiency to include use of basic software applications (Word, Excel, gmail, etc)
- Ability to lift and /or to move up to 100 pounds and to work at various heights
- Ability to communicate effectively (written and verbal) and to work well with coworkers and district personnel
- Ability to work overtime and to change schedules with minimal notice; willingness to work non-regular hours (weekends, night shift, swing shift, holidays)
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Repair, construct and alter wooden structures (i.e. partitions, counters, doors, prefab furniture, window frames, concrete forms, furnish door hardware and suspended ceiling systems)
- Perform mill and cabinet work; build closets, bookcases and shelving
- Install acoustical tiles, floor tile, baseboard and trim, ceramic tile, tack boards and marker boards
- Operate floor sanding equipment, lathes, planes, joiners, band saws, power tools and other woodworking equipment
- Cut glass for desk tops; cut and/or install mirrors; repair existing windows
- Regular and on-time attendance required
- Perform other related duties, as assigned, to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit
ADDITIONAL DUTIES:
- Perform repairs to various types or roof systems (i.e. build-up, shingles and single-ply)
- May prepare working drawings from sketches
- May direct the work of helpers
- Help write job scopes and specifications
- May supervise outside contractors
- Assist other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities
