Alliance Graphics is looking for a new President/CEO to oversee the overall operation of the business while managing key client accounts. Strong leadership in team management, sales, marketing, and strategic planning are crucial and major areas of responsibility. The role requires someone who can help drive innovation, staying current with new technology, trends, and products.Alliance Graphics is a dynamic Union Screen Printing organization in Berkeley, California committed to serving, supporting & supplying Unions & social justice movements. With over 35 years of experience producing screen-printed and embroidered wearables, as well as promotional products, it is owned by the Middle East Children’s Alliance (MECA). All profits from the business support MECA and its vital projects. A deep dedication to the work of MECA ( ) is essential for this position. As a union shop, there is also a commitment to working cooperatively with the union and staff. Most clients include unions, progressive and non-profit organizations, schools, sports teams, and small businesses. With approximately $5 million in sales and around 20 employees, Alliance Graphics strives to deliver excellent service to the community.Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership and Planning:

  • Develop and implement the organization’s long-term strategy in alignment with its mission and values.
  • Guide the organization through strategic planning, goal setting, and execution to achieve sustainable growth and impact.

Operational and Financial Management:

  • Oversee all departments and manage cash flow and financial performance.
  • Manage the organization’s budget and resources responsibly. Secure and allocate funding effectively to support ongoing projects and future initiatives.
  • Ensure deadlines are met and projects are profitable.
  • Handle major equipment purchases and staffing needs.
  • Manage licenses and contracts (e.g., Cal, Teamsters, UAW, USW, City of Richmond).
  • Keep organizational memberships in good standing (ASI, PPAI, FLA).
  • Ensure operational efficiency and the highest standards of service delivery.

Team Development and Performance:

  • Lead and mentor a diverse team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and professional growth.
  • Assess managers’ performance and foster a high-performing team environment.
  • Troubleshoot problems and provide effective solutions.
  • Oversee continuing staff education to maintain a skilled workforce.

Stakeholder Engagement and Negotiations:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including partners, donors, and community members. Represent the organization in public forums and build its reputation as a leader in the field.
  • Work closely with the Board of Directors to set strategic priorities and ensure alignment with organizational goals. Prepare and present regular updates on organizational performance and strategic initiatives.
  • Negotiate with unions, landlords, and vendors.
  • Develop new vendor relationships and maintain existing ones.
  • Act as the major salesperson and develop key client relationships.

Marketing and Community Relations:

  • Lead and manage marketing strategies and digital presence, including the website.
  • Oversee and implement marketing and promotional campaigns.
  • Stay current on industry trends, production equipment, styles, and options for wearables and promotional products.
  • Attend trade shows and represent the organization in the community.
  • Maintain the showroom and manage samples.

Advocacy and Representation:

  • Advocate for the organization’s mission and interests at local, national, and international levels. Represent the organization at events, in the media, and with policymakers.

Innovation and Growth:

  • Drive innovation within the organization, identifying new opportunities for expansion and improvement. Stay abreast of industry trends and best practices to keep the organization at the forefront of its field.

Additional Duties:

  • Occasionally cover front desk duties and answer phones as needed.
  • Bring a positive atmosphere to the workplace (e.g., bringing doughnuts every Friday).
  • Address any additional needs to ensure smooth operations.

Qualifications:

  • Extensive and proven leadership experience, preferably as a President, CEO, or in a similar senior executive role.
  • Proven ability to manage operations, finances, and strategic planning.
  • Strong negotiation skills and experience dealing with unions, vendors, and landlords.
  • Effective communicator with a talent for fostering relationships and team building.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of industry trends, marketing, and digital strategies.
  • A proactive problem solver with a knack for innovation and growth.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute strategic plans.
  • Strong financial acumen and experience in managing budgets and financial operations.
  • Experience in building and leading high-performing teams.
  • Ability to cultivate strong relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Passion for serving, supporting & supplying Unions & social justice movements, and a commitment to advancing its goals.
  • Advanced degree in business, management, or a related field is preferred.
