Salary Range: $4,452 – $8,592/Monthly
Work Schedule: Full-Time, Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; exempt classification.
Essential Functions: Under the general supervision of the Assistant Controller-Auxiliary Accounting, the incumbent performs professional accounting work requiring general knowledge and understanding of generally accepted accounting principles and practices. The incumbent is responsible for the generation of routine financial reports and statements, maintenance, analysis, reconciliation, and resolution of outstanding items related to assigned accounts; performs analysis and reconciliation of general ledger and subsidiary ledger and endowment accounts; prepares monthly and year-end journal entries; researches and resolves discrepancies in account and fund balances and student loan funds reconciliation; identifies actual or potential problems with financial transactions and recommends corrective action; assists in the year-end A-133 audit and reporting and PBC schedules. The position also participates in developing and documenting accounting procedures, implementing system and procedural changes, and provides training and assistance to other employees.
Required Qualifications & Experience: A bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university with a major in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or Economics, which includes the successful completion of a minimum of twenty-four (24) semester units of accounting coursework. The incumbent must possess advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, particularly MS Excel; generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP); and endowments and banking and investment accounting. The incumbent must have the ability to independently interpret applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures, and apply accounting theory and practices based on generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP); prepare reconciliations and to investigate and resolve errors, and discrepancies, make correcting entries; and a strong ability to identify, analyze, and resolve problems. The incumbent must have a demonstrated interest and/or ability to work in a multicultural/multiethnic environment. A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the California State University.
