We are The Elderlaw Firm and we are an elder law and estate planning law firm located in Greensboro, NC. We are looking to add an Associate Attorney to our team who is caring, compassionate, and hungry to learn and serve clients. We also need someone with an entrepreneurial spirit who is driven, and self-motivated to lead, grow and learn. What does a day in the life at our firm look like? • Well, no 2 days are alike. • You will spend your time meeting with potential clients and listening to their questions, issues, and concerns, and helping them understand their needs; thereby facilitating their hiring us for our services. • You will draft estate planning documents: wills, POAs, trusts, etc. • You may also learn and help with probate and estate and trust administration. • You will work within a team. We have great systems here, so we’re not necessarily looking for someone with a ton of experience in the practice areas in which we focus. If necessary, we will teach you the law that you need to know to get the legal work done. What’s more important is that you are a great lawyer, with a tremendous work ethic, and understand the power of working in a team environment. The person we hire will take initiative and think like an owner. Even if you’ve done some estate planning in the past, the person we hire will approach every part of this job with an open mind and have a willingness to learn “our way” of doing things. Responsibilities: • Help set client strategies in vision meetings. • Build rapport with clients and potential clients and get potential clients to say ‘yes’ for us to help them and in turn collect initial client payments; this doesn’t scare you after a bit of training • Draft, review, and/or oversee estate planning/elder law documents • Manage and review estate administration matters • Respond to client questions and inquiries about existing plans within 24/48 hours • Track all hours worked • Update matters accurately as this is how we know where a file is at all times in our office • Over time, provide innovative new legal solutions to client problems • Facilitate public and client seminars on various topics to help with marketing efforts and gaining potential new clients • Write articles and/or blogs Qualifications: • JD and a licensed attorney in good standing in the state of NC • Must be computer savvy as our systems are all cloud-based and the client files live and die through our office systems • At least 1- 3 years experience in estate planning or elder law preferred, but willing to train the right candidate; related tax experience helpful Other skills and competencies to enable your success in this role: • Exceptional research, writing, and proofreading skills • Excellent verbal communication skills • High attention to detail • Critical thinking and analytical skills with the ability to think through problems and recommend solutions • Follow-through abilities in order to work on multiple client files at once • Budget and time conscious with the ability to meet deadlines and track all time worked daily • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment; change doesn’t rattle you nor does working right up against a deadline • Team player with strong organizational and time management skills • Ability to work with all personalities and experience levels • A GREAT attitude, a self–starter who takes initiative and is willing to learn • Honesty, integrity, and ability to own work, produce quality work and accept feedback • Unafraid of technology and learning new systems: Sharepoint and MS Office 365; Curo and Pathagoras; Wealth Docs and Elder Docs About Company: For over 20 years, The Elderlaw Firm has protected countless families and their hard-earned money from life’s events including incapacity and death.
