Job Description:The Wall Street Journal is hiring a reporter to cover the beverages and tobacco industries.This is a corporate beat covering some of the biggest global companies, from the brewer of Budweiser to Coca-Cola as well as the makers of Marlboros and next-gen vaping devices.It is a unique perch from which we should be breaking big business scoops and uncovering revelatory stories about consumer behaviors, inflation, regulation, public health and social issues.This reporter will work alongside others on the corporate team covering business leaders, retailers, big brands and consumer habits to set the agenda for executives, investors and shoppers.We’re looking for someone with experience in business and financial journalism, a demonstrated ability to take readers inside executive suites and who is well versed in finding and telling human stories. This reporter is comfortable on video and audio, and loves to experiment with data, visuals and storytelling formats. A desire to collaborate with colleagues in other coverage areas is a must.The position is based in New York and reports to the NY Corporate Bureau Chief.You will:
- Develop sources and break news on your beat so you become the go-to-source of insights for audiences on your beat
Conceptualize and deliver deeply reported enterprise and investigative stories, videos and podcasts.Work with colleagues around the country and the world in a global newsroom.You have:
- Ideally at least three years of reporting experience
