Position Summary
The Finance Consultant will oversee the planning, development, implementation, and maintenance of the company’s financial and business operations. The Finance Consultant will translate the company vision and strategy into annual and quarterly plans. This person will have demonstrated experience in finance, preferably in a startup environment and will be comfortable owning strategy and execution until it’s time to build a team around themselves. This person will work closely with the grants compliance team (compliance officer and bookkeeper).
Responsibilities
- Own all aspects of FP&A, including AR/AP/Payroll – both hands-on and in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders
- Establish a metrics-driven organization, and maintain ownership of strategy, planning, reporting, and execution of the Finance team
- Direct financing strategies, analysis, forecasting, compliance, and budget management in partnership with leadership
- Partner with leadership to develop the long-term operating model and drive the strategic steps to get there
- Help with future fundraising/investing processes and the evaluation of strategic opportunities with our CEO and leadership team
- Be hands-on for strategy and execution while managing grants contracting team
- Ensure short-term and long-term growth plans are viable and lead strategic initiatives around capital financing options to support the company
- Analyze the company’s financial results with respect to profits, trends, costs and compliance with budgets
- Responsible for financial discussions and communication with stakeholders, including vendors, investors and board of directors
- Ensure regular status and financial reports are given to senior management
- Future proof the business and build to scale- putting processes in place that don’t limit potential growth and that prevent the need to try to hire away the problem in every scenario
- Automate, automate, automate for greater operational efficiency and supporting other business functions to do so as well
- Partner across the business to support the business strategy through planning, budget, tools and developing growth models
- Provide strategic support of business through corporate partnerships
- Provide ongoing analysis and synthesis of industry trends and opportunities for business
- Performs other duties as required
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business or Finance preferred
- 6+ years FP&A management experience in a technology or SaaS business
- Experience partnering with and managing operations functions of the business highly preferred
- Experience working in a startup creating financial models, budget processes and forecasts
- A data-driven approach to decision-making with the ability to own strategy and planning for the finance organization
- Capable of working autonomously, meeting deadlines and thriving in a very fast paced environment
