Position DescriptionResponsible for providing effective instruction for assigned coursesResponsibilities and Duties (*Essential Functions)To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the essential job functions satisfactorily.   • Instructs and guides the class in an efficient and effective manner
  • Maintains accurate records of student work and attendance
  • Prepares thoroughly for each instructional hour
  • Maintains a safe and orderly learning environment
  • Counsels students regarding their grades and progress in the course
  • Grades and returns student work in a timely manner

Follows identified course activities to meet learning objectives that support the goals of the courseAssists with curriculum designMaintains regular office hoursStays abreast of most current teaching methods and technology in the classroomUses assessment techniques to improve learning and teachingServes on college or department committees as neededAttends professional development opportunities when possibleAssists with establishing goals and objectives for the course, selecting text and constructing a syllabusMaintains communication with instructors from other divisions in order to keep courses up-to-date and appropriateParticipate in graduation exercisesQualificationsKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Able to use a wide variety of teaching methods to promote learningBe innovative, creative, motivatedAbility to exhibit good interpersonal skills and work well with othersAble to maintain records accurately and be able to meet deadlines consistentlyGood organizational skillsKnowledge of and facility with technology and software including, computers, and web-based resources such as Blackboard.Able to perform normal duties with minimal supervisionExcellent communication skills both written and verbalMust have excellent problem-solving skills and be able to troubleshoot difficult projectsMust have strong leadership skillsMust demonstrate good judgment and decision-making skillsDemonstrates resourcefulness, initiative, enthusiasm, and a sincere interest in helping students reach their maximum potentialMinimum Requirements:Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Geomatics, Surveying or related field plus two years relevant experience in civil engineering, geomatics, surveying or related field
ORAssociate’s degree in Civil Engineering, Geomatics, Surveying or related field plus four years relevant experience in civil engineering, geomatics, surveying or related fieldComputer skills using basic functions of MS Word, MS Excel, MS Power Point, and OutlookPreferences:B.S. degree (or higher academic credential) in Civil Engineering, Geomatics, Surveying, or related field Licensure as a Professional Engineer or Professional Land Surveyor
