Responsibilities

The IT Risk Management team is seeking a forward thinking, innovative and results-oriented Application Development Senior Manager (Agile). This area is focused on the development of products (UI and APIs) for the claims management lifecycle. These initiatives will require strong partnerships with other IT and Business teams. Risk Management continuously strives to ensure the alignment of projects and products with organizational strategic pillars. This is an exciting time to be part of the Risk Management leadership team. We continue to partner with the Business and IT to roadmap for the upcoming fiscal year and beyond to build modernized and industry competitive solutions.

As a Senior Manager in Risk Management, you will lead an application development team focused on the delivery of our department’s commitments to organizational strategic and tactical initiatives. You will also have oversight of our production support team. You will be responsible for building effective partnerships across the organization, including our business sponsors and other IT leaders and teams. You will need to demonstrate the ability to effectively balance and negotiate competing priorities and manage expectations of IT and business leadership. You will maintain capacity planning for your team and lead the team in prioritizing and completing assigned tasks and projects.

You will need to have a strong focus on employee engagement and development including employee career planning/support, training, interviewing, hiring, team building, rewarding and performance and salary reviews. Your role will be to provide strong leadership and empower high performing teams to deliver and support innovative solutions, suggest and implement process improvements, remove roadblocks impeding the path forward and continuously develop the team and future leaders. You will develop and maintain procedures that support team activities associated with specific areas of expertise or responsibility, and lead individuals in adhering to and supporting team procedures.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Must be presently authorized to work in the U.S. without a requirement for work authorization sponsorship by our company for this position now or in the future
  • The IT Senior Manager position typically requires 8+ years of related experience (IT, application development, people management, etc.)
  • 3+ years of experience managing/ leading teams in an application development environment
  • 2+ years of people management experience, to include hiring, 1-1 meetings, career coaching/ mentoring, performance reviews, salary reviews, etc
  • Must have leadership experience in successful delivery of medium to large scale initiatives and gaining consensus of others from multiple areas/departments and business partners
  • Expert in project management concepts, from planning and inception, through implementation and support
  • Strong expertise in Agile methodology using JIRA and Confluence
  • Must maintain and assess financials for projects and time-tracking for teams
  • Must have effective analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain solid working relationships across business and IT teams
  • Proven ability to lead, mentor and motivate team members to maximize their potential, deliver high quality deliverables and take pride in their work
  • Creates strong employee engagement and supports a diverse environment
  • Develops and retains strong performers and prepares for future responsibilities
  • Implements and guides process improvements; recommends enhancements that result in increased quality and efficiencies
  • Provides escalation assistance; recommends potential solutions to issues; follows established escalation procedures; resolves complex issues
  • Establishes key performance metrics for the department and monitors to ensure compliance of established standards, processes, and procedures.
  • Possesses initiative, results-oriented drive and a solid work ethic requiring minimal direction
  • Must have strong personal management skills emphasizing time management, organization, and attention to detail
  • Must demonstrate excellent communication skills, including strong listening skills, influence, and leadership presence
  • Ability to remain calm and confident in the face of change and adversity
  • Must be committed to incorporating security into all decisions and daily job responsibilities

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems, or related field preferred
  • Experience with Cloud and APIs
  • Experience with assisting in forecasting, creating, and maintaining solution roadmaps
  • Experience with Jira and Confluence is preferred
  • Experience with Service Now is preferred
