The person in this role performs business impact analysis and post mortem analysis. A Network Engineer also provides technical and product guidance and advice to customers and management, in addition to participating in on-call after-hours work when needed. This role provides a high level of engineering support of enterprise systems for end users and customers.Job Responsibilities:Manage 4000+ network and security systems across a large-scale enterprise while maintaining the availability and integrity of these systemsCreates regular reports; provides the necessary analytics to make technical and business decisionsEffectively manages multiple projects involving installations of infrastructure software and hardware while meeting business objectives and deadlinesEnsures all issues regarding system or network automated alerts are logged, tracked, and resolved; manages alerts and events through an enterprise trouble ticketing toolFollow the change management process to production systems with regard to physical or system configuration updatesMakes process and systems improvement recommendations to assist the business in achieving its goals and objectives, leveraging best practices and professional experiencesDevelops and maintains capacity planning analysis, recommendations, and proceduresEffectively communicates to business partners, customers/end users, engineering peers, and IT leadershipResolve operational issues through support tickets and alerts from network and system monitoring tools. Manages/participates in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for Network outages.Remains updated on changes in the industry utilizing resources (e.g., technical training, technical magazines, white papers, books, etc.) to gain additional knowledge related to IT systemsQualifications:Education:B.S. Degree in computer science or a related field is preferred; or 5+ years of industry experienceRequired Experience:3-5 years of Network Engineering experience in large enterprise environments3-5 years of experience administering Cisco switching and routing equipmentAt least 3+ years of experience in three or more of the following environments: IPSEC/SSL VPN’s, Cisco routers/switches, Cisco Wireless infrastructure, WAN/LAN communication protocols (BGP, EIGRP, OSPF, Spanning Tree), Enterprise firewalls, IDS/IPS systems, web content filtering systems5+ years of experience on technology infrastructure teamsRequired Competencies/Skills:Strong problem-solving, decision-making, planning/ organizing, and communication skills requiredAbility to manage pressure while maintaining attention to detailCandidates must also have functional and technical expertise, adaptability and flexibility, be customer-focused, and work well in teamsPreferred Experience:CCNA/CCNP, CISSP, DNAC, Prime, Unix/Linux systems, Palo Alto systems, Python, scriptingDrug Testing: To be employed in this role, you’ll need to clear a pre-employment drug test.
