Job Purpose

Responsible to manage, lead, and coach plant quality supervisors and their quality teams. Establish and maintain standardized quality requirements and quality processes across the manufacturing facilities to meet customer expectations and requirements, Federal Highway Association (FHWA), and Critical Road Safety (CRS), QBMS internal processes to support the achievement of quality excellence and operational success.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for Quality department adherence to the Cardinal Rules of Safety. • Manages and leads quality department reports as outlined in the organization chart. • Responsible to establish, document, train, and maintain simple, effective, and standardized processes for: o testing, auditing, and inspection o manufacturing product and process audits o CRS Program o FHWA Inspection Program o Controlling and Maintaining Calibrated Devices and Test Equipment and Quality tools o Quality document control o Non-conforming material o Defects or SROs o ERP inputs and outputs o SRP & MI o Document Control & Paperwork o Drawing system & print reading o Customer required processes and data o Other items as required
  • Responsible to establish, implement, and maintain Quality Standards across the organization. • Responsible to investigate and/or assign and oversee Manufacturing or Quality related warranty and customer complaints reported and initiate, implement, and/or coordinate corrective/preventative actions as appropriate.
  • Perform coaching, mentoring, and training of direct reports to develop their skillsets, teamwork, and knowledge.
  • Responsible to oversee mentoring, training, and development progress of quality personnel by direct reports. • Design and implement training for Quality Supervisors and manufacturing quality personnel. • Supports ensuring appropriate quality resources are allocated across the facilities. • Provide manufacturing and quality personnel guidance and direction on technical issues, specification requirements, inspection, and testing methods.
  • Ensure ongoing compliance to the QBMS, FHWA, CRS and ISO 9001 in the Manufacturing Quality teams.
  • Provide Quality review and input, upon request, during Sales and Engineering order reviews to ensure the necessary quality criteria, testing, capabilities, and compliance provisions are considered. • Provide Quality review and input, upon request, during Engineering design, process and product development projects to ensure quality, criteria, testing, capabilities, and compliance provisions are considered.
  • Issue required periodic quality reports and provides data analysis to the Quality Manager, Director of Quality and management as required and champions follow-up actions as applicable. • Keep management team abreast of significant issues or developments identified and supports actions being taken to assure correction, prevention, and/ or continual improvement.
  • Perform all assigned tasks in a safe, efficient, timely, and accurate and highly productive manner according to company policy.
  • Attend scheduled work hours on a regular and timely basis. Maintain good attendance.
  • Follow company policies and procedures.
  • Travel as required.

Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required in conjunction with a minimum of 5 years industry-based supervisory work experience and internal or external supervisory training courses required.
  • Licenses/Certifications:

o FHWA (Federal Highway Administration) test and certification, on-site required

o CRS qualification training, on-site required

  • Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

o 5+ years of direct related experience and knowledge in supervision or management.

o ISO 9001 and/or QA experience a plus, willingness to learn a requirement.

o Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

o Skill and demonstrated ability to collect, organize, and analyze data; summarize findings; and develop conclusions and recommendations from appropriate data sources in a manner to ensure conformance to requirements and specifications while maintaining lowest costs, highest efficiency, and customer satisfaction.

o Understanding and utilizing techniques for effective cost control while maintaining delivered quality of products.

o Knowledge and demonstrated experience with management of production processes, quality control, cost control, efficiency, lean manufacturing, safety programs, and budgeting.

o Ability to establish and communicate clear priorities and to influence others to support and act on those priorities.

o Demonstrated ability to define, plan, and complete major projects.

o Proven ability to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines.

o Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

o Self-motivated, results oriented, with demonstrated ability to work effectively alone and with others within a team environment.

o Ability to manage, lead, motivate, develop, and direct people as they work and identify the best people for the job.

o Proactive communicator who can clearly articulate results and needs across all levels.

o Work and communicate in a team environment.

o Must be fluent in English.

o Ability to write technical correspondence.

o Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization.

Training:

  • Orientation.
  • ISO 9001 internal auditor qualification or willingness to obtain
