Job Description

Sr. Mechanical Engineers at SDC are individuals that use strong machine design fundamentals and integrate them with out-of-the-box, creative ideas to create unique automated machines that meet or exceed our customer and internal specifications. We are looking for team players who are ready to take the next step in their engineering career – working collaboratively to design and build technically sound automated systems.
Essential Functions:
- Develop innovative and advanced machine concepts based on customer and internal specifications.
- Design, using SolidWorks or equivalent software, complete layout of machine including detailed drawings of all components.
- Evaluate and specify materials and finishes on manufactured parts.
- Work closely with suppliers and vendors to research, quote and purchase integrated machine components.
- Work closely with project managers to monitor project schedules and assist with adjustments as needed.
- Work quickly and collaboratively to solve machine design challenges throughout the project lifecycle, using best practices and common design elements.
- Participate and/or lead internal and customer design reviews and status updates
- Create detail drawings, assembly drawings, bill of materials and organize release packages.
- Support machine building process from assembly, de-bug and acceptance testing and through potential on-site customer installations with start-up support and customer training.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering required.
- Strong knowledge of machine design and mechanical components as it relates to factory automation.
- Strong knowledge of 3D CAD software, experienced in working with SolidWorks preferred.
- Strong decision making and communication skills.
- Ability to coordinate with a project team and collaborate with other departments.
- Ability and willingness to travel to support projects, up to 10%.
- Minimum of 3 years industry experience.
