Job Description

This role is responsible for applying accounting principles and procedures to record, reconcile and analyze financial information, and assisting with the preparation of accurate and timely financial reports and statements. The ideal candidate will bring a strong work ethic and problem-solving skills. The ability to work independently, confidence in decision making skills, punctuality, self-motivation and commitment to the work schedule is essential.
General Duties
- Research and post general ledger journal entries and reclassifications
- Assist with month-end close, including account reconciliation, journal entries and preparation of monthly financial statements
- Assist with monitoring and researching budget to actual variances
- Manage the Pace credit card program review and approval process and import transactions into the accounting records
- Assist in the gathering of information, reconciliation and preparation of schedules required for the annual audit
- Conduct analysis and prepare reports for specific projects as requested
- Assist with tracking and reconciling restricted gifts and releases from restrictions
- Assist the Controller and CFO on various projects
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from an accredited college or university
- Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, and how they apply to nonprofit accounting
- 0 – 2+ years accounting experience preferred
- Exceptional Excel skills to include daily functions such as V-lookups, sum ifs, sorting and filtering
- Ability to collaborate effectively with school personnel and work with diverse groups of people
- Ability to track and follow-up on outstanding items and emails
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to research issues and formulate possible solutions
- Excellent organizational and time management skills – this position requires managing multiple tasks and projects simultaneously while adhering to deadlines
