Superintendent – Heavy CivilA dynamic and growing heavy civil construction client of ours is pursuing a driven and strong Superintendent. Candidate should have diverse heavy civil construction skills and a demonstrated track record both in the office and field. The ideal candidate will have experience with heavy civil construction that includes Bridge and Structure, Earthwork, Underground Utilities, Concrete Paving, and Site Development.Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and supervise Carpenter Foremen, Pile Foremen and project operations as it relates to bridge and concrete structures.
  • Work with project manager to determine method and sequencing of construction. Plans, directs, coordinates and budgets activities.
  • Manage day to day activities and prepare daily electronic field logs.
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with owner, subcontractors, and vendors.
  • Communicate and promote safe working environment and company safety standards, with strong knowledge of OSHA regulations in regards to crane and bridge construction.
  • Must be able to read plans and have a strong knowledge of various DOT specifications and standards. Superintendent will inspect work in progress to ensure quality workmanship that conforms to contract specifications and standards. Working knowledge of DOT Quality Management Program a plus.
  • Confers with supervisory and engineering personnel and inspectors and suppliers of tools and materials to resolve construction problems and improve construction methods.
  • Responsible for compliance with all Equal Employment Opportunity/Affirmative Action policies and procedures.
  • Assist in the development of lift plans, form systems, support of excavations systems, demolition plans
  • Schedule subcontractors in accordance to required work schedule, pump trucks and material deliveries, Inspect and verify the receipt or shipment of materials
  • Develop 2 Week Schedules to plan and coordinate labor, equipment, material, and needs
  • Interface with team members to communicate company issues, compliment exemplary work or effort and to address grievances as necessary.
  • Attend internal pre-construction meetings

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years’ related experience with civil highway bridge construction operations required
  • Proficient with Outlook, Excel and Word is a plus.
  • Ability to read, understand, and interpret contract documents including drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and the project schedule
  • Strong written, communication and problem-solving skills
  • Strong leadership and management skills
  • Experience with Pile Driving, Concrete Forming, Steel or Beam Erection, Temporary and Permanent Shoring, Drilled-shaft Foundations, Bridge Deck Forming and Concrete Placement
  • Current OSHA (10 Hour) Certification
